QL2 Centre for Youth Dance has been shortlisted in two categories of the Australian Dance Awards.
This is a great honour. Many excellent individuals, organisations and dance works are eligible for the awards. They are nominated by people interested in dance from around Australia.
The panel then makes a shortlist of four top nominees in each category; and finally announces the winner at the Australian Dance Awards gala event in Melbourne.
The shortlist:
For "Services to Dance", Ruth Osborne has been shortlisted, along with Lee Christofis, Shane Colquhoun and Hilary Trotter.
In the new category of "Outstanding Achievement in Youth or Community Dance",
QL2 Centre for Youth Dance has been shortlisted for My Sister, My Brother along with
Restless Dance Theatre and Rawcus Theatre Company for The Heart of Another is a Dark Forest;
Stompin for Uncover This; and Tracks for Struck.
Also of note is that Paul White, who choreographed in My Sister, My Brother has been shortlisted for "Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer" for his performance in Tanja Leidtke's Construct. Paul will be giving a masterclass for QL2 dancers when Construct tours to Canberra in June.
And Reed Luplau, who is choreographing in QL2's Select Option this year, has also been shortlisted in the same category, for Sid's Waltzing Masquerade with Sydney Dance Company.
Best of luck to everyone!
