Farewell to The Australian Choreographic Centre
Farewell to The Australian Choreographic Centre
AND WELCOME TO QL2 CENTRE FOR YOUTH DANCE

The Australian Choreographic Centre in Canberra was for 11 years a leader in supporting the development of the art, craft and science of choreography -- enhancing the contribution which dance makes to cultural life. Through a nationally competitive program of fellowships, residencies and commissions plus educational, advocacy and scientific research activities, it  became a centre for the development of choreographers, choreographic practice, and new choreographic works; led by  visionary Artistic Director Mark Gordon.

From January 2008, the Centre changed direction, now focussing on youth dance as its core business. We believe that in the nine years since it was created, the Centre's youth dance stream, especially  Quantum Leap, has gone from strength to strength and has clearly demonstrated its value in the ACT and beyond. We also believe that with greater nurturing it can become a national centre of excellence in youth dance and provide an even richer development path for young people into dance.

And so, The Australian Choreographic Centre is no more, but leaves a rich legacy of choreographers, dancers and other artists; and a track record of excellence in youth dance.
