Class FAQs 〰️

Please find information about coming to class at QL2 Dance below. This information is most useful for people already enrolled in our classes.

For information about our timetable and registering for classes, please visit this page first.

  • Generally, the best choices are clothes that are functional for dance – and won’t distract you from what you’re doing.

    Consider:

    • Clothing that allows a full and unrestricted range of movement – active wear materials like stretch cotton and lycra are good options. Denim is not.

    • Simple, streamlined clothing – avoid extra bits that can get in your way (like hoods, or wide-leg pants).

    • For aspiring professional dancers – dance-specific clothing such as leotard and tights.

Please tie hair back securely, so it is not distracting you.

Baggy layers are only permitted during warm up (first 10-15 minutes).

For ballet, please wear ballet shoes and choose fitted clothing for alignment visibility.

For contemporary, we work bare foot. You are welcome to bring socks for the first part of class. You may find long sleeves and pants helpful during floorwork.

For Expanded Practice Term 3: Acro Fusion – please wear bare feet.

Please note school shoes, slippers, ugg boots and crocs are not permitted - and socks are only permitted in some classes.

  • Dancers use the pigeonholes in the theatre foyer for bags and shoes. The foyer is secure during class times, but we encourage you to leave valuables at home. Please bring healthy snacks to keep you fuelled for classes. You may bring food into the foyer to snack on before and in between classes.

We ask all participants to only bring what is necessary, inside the studio. For example, a refillable water bottle and anything else you need while dancing, such as an asthma puffer. The studio has a strict no shoe and no food policy. This is our working space, and it is best to keep it clean and focused.

No watches or jewellery in class.

Phones must be left in bags during class.

  • QL2 Dance is located at Gorman Arts Centre, Braddon.

Most of our classes run in the QL2 Theatre, which is in A Block at the Gorman Arts Centre (entrance on Ainslie Avenue.) QL2 offices are also here. The QL2 Theatre is our hub for weekly classes. There is dedicated parking available on Batman and Currong Streets, as well as street parking.

Some classes take place in the D Block Studio at Gorman Arts Centre (Batman Street side).

  • All dancers who arrive early for class should go to the QL2 Theatre (Ainslie Avenue entrance) which opens at:

    • 4:00pm Mondays and Wednesdays

    • 3:30pm Tuesdays and Thursdays

Ballet (Tuesdays) and Extension Contemporary (Thursdays) will take place in the D Block Studio at the Gorman Arts Centre. Please note, this venue will only open 15 minutes before class is scheduled to begin.

Please note, QL2 staff are not available for duty of care prior to the studio opening times listed above.
