The Chaos Project is one of three public performance seasons produced by QL2 Dance annually. The Chaos Project is fun, imaginative and collaborative, open to young people aged 8+ who love to dance and be creative – no formal dance experience required!
Each year, The Chaos Project has a particular theme. Chaos dancers work with professional choreographers to create, rehearse and perform original dance works based on this theme. Chaos is presented in a professional theatre to a public audience - in 2024 we performed for almost 600 people!
The Chaos Project celebrates the creative eco-system of QL2 Dance. It is an exciting exchange of energy that inspires every member of the team, from our youngest artists to our most experienced.

WHAT’S INVOLVED?
The Chaos Project involves the collaborative creation of new short dance works. These works are rehearsed and presented as an hour-long production at the Belconnen Arts Centre – in costume, with specially-considered soundtracks and original lighting design. The performance season is ticketed and promoted as one of three annual productions for QL2 Dance.
The choreographers are professional dance artists committed to facilitating safe and inspiring spaces for the young participants. For every member of the team – from our youngest cast members through to our professional artists – the Chaos experience is explorative, challenging and exciting!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
No. All dancers must be eight years old at the time of audition to apply for Chaos 2025.
-
Yes! Interested young people are required to attend the “audition workshop” on Sunday 3 August 2025. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. Professional choreographers will lead you through the workshop in two parts. The first part involves a simple warm up, then we will teach you some choreography to remember and present (in small groups). The second part is creative. We will give you some creative inspiration (word and picture cues) so you can imagine your own movement response and create a short dance in a small group.
-
No – you will either dance with everyone else at the same time, or in groups. No one will be required to do anything on their own.
-
No, but basic coordination and rhythm are important – along with your enthusiasm. We are looking for energetic, imaginative and curious young people who are interested in dance, but you don’t have to have any formal training.

This nominal administrative fee supports the organisation and management of audition applicants. We take your interest in our project seriously and work to ensure you are properly informed and supported to do your best at the audition.
