QL2 Dance offers a range of classes across contemporary technique, creative lab, ballet and expanded practice. More information about each of these classes can be found below.

  • Contemporary technique classes at QL2 Dance are focused on kinaesthetic experience to develop understanding, awareness and control of the body in space. Content will include practice (exercises), and choreographic sequences designed to refine, empower and expand your individual movement palette.

    Mondays Level 2 - 5:00pm-6:15pm (75 min)

    Wednesdays Level 3 - 5:00pm-6:30pm (90 min)

    Thursdays Level 1 - 5:00pm-6:00pm (60 min)

  • Extension Contemporary is designed for young dancers keen to do more. This class is scheduled to supplement the weekly Level 3 Contemporary class and strongly recommended for young people considering a career in dance.

    Thursdays 5:00pm-6:30pm

  • Creative Lab sessions offer our young dancers a unique opportunity to practice their creative skills without the pressure of an upcoming production. Sessions will focus on creative play, experimentation and reflection – across improvisation, games and creative tasks – to develop confidence, artistry and critical thinking.

    Mondays Level 2 - 6:30pm-7:45pm (75 min)

    Wednesdays Level 3 - 6:45pm-8:00pm (75 min)

    Thursdays Level 1 - 6:15pm-7:15pm (60 min)

  • Balletclasses at QL2 are designed to enhance and expand movement capacity in young dancers. Typically, ballet is focused on refinement and control and depending on the syllabus, it can be strict in its stylisation. Rather than being confined to a particular syllabus, QL2 ballet classes are inspired by the Karin System of Ballet Training which is centred around the core principles of alignment, imagery, musicality and artistry. Ballet is recommended for all young dancers keen to increase their strength, flexibility, fluidity, control and refinement of the body in space.

    Tuesdays

    Ballet A (combination of level 1 and 2 students) - 4:15pm-5:15pm (60 minutes)

    Ballet B (combination of level 2 and 3 students) - 6:45pm-8:00pm (75 minutes)

    Ballet C (combination of level 2 and 3 students) - 5:15pm-6:30pm (75 minutes)

  • Expanded practice is a weekly class in a different dance style each term that allows our young dancers to continue expanding their movement capacity - and keep growing their movement confidence. The inclusion of this class reflects contemporary dance as it is today, across the world – diverse, inclusive and amorphous.

In Term 3, we are excited to facilitate acro fusion with Natalie Wade.

This high-energy class is designed to get you moving in bold new ways. Fusing traditional gymnastics and acrobatic skills with elements of martial arts, basic parkour, and partner lifts this class is designed to provide a physical challenge that pushes the boundaries of how you move.

Whether you’re flipping, rolling, vaulting, or lifting, you’ll be building body control, trust, and confidence in motion. This class is perfect for dancers keen to expand their movement vocabulary and discover a new physical edge.

Although you most often see her behind the computer, Natalie has a deep background in both gymnastics and dance. She is a highly experienced gymnastics coach, holding qualifications in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, KinderGym, FreeG, TeamGym, and Advanced Tumbling. Over many years in Goulburn, Natalie coached young gymnasts, led tumbling programs, and worked as a dance teacher and Assistant Manager at the PCYC.

Dancers must wear fitted clothing for this class - nothing loose or hanging from the body as this will create hazards when you are upside down! Please attend regularly, more than two consecutive absences may prevent your ongoing participation.

    Tuesdays

    Expanded Practice X (a combination of level 1 and 2 students) - 5:30pm-6:30pm (60 minutes)

    Expanded Practice Y (a combination of level 2 and 3 students) - 6:45pm – 8:00pm (75 minutes)

  • Creative Moves is designed for 4-7 year old groovers. This class is a joyful, curious, non-confronting way to explore dancing, supported by solid information and great music. Each 45-minute class is a mix of movement, simple technique, creative improvisation and games.

    Thursdays 4:00pm-4:45pm (45 minutes)

  • We know that it is important to find the right place for you, your dancing and your family. QL2 offers a free trial class so you can check it out for yourself.

If you’d like to try a class, contact us at admin@ql2.org.au so we are ready to welcome you with a big smile, and a quick-sign-off-on-a-short-form to cover your participation.

Once you have decided that QL2 is right for you, there are two ways to enrol in our weekly dance classes:

  1. Casually (term by term) – We understand that young people can have many different interests and extra-curricular activities. Our casual class enrolment offers you the freedom of stepping into dance classes when it suits you, and stepping out when it doesn’t.

  2. Annual membership offers a deeper relationship with QL2 Dance and is best suited for creative, curious and enthusiastic young people who are dedicated to dance.
