QL2 Dance Annual Membership 2026

Young people aged 8+ are invited to become QL2 Dance annual members in 2026.

Annual membership is $1,475 which is payable in three installments in February, May and August. This is a 25% discount on annual casual rates.

Membership includes two classes per week – all year – one in contemporary dance technique and the second as a creative lab. Additionally, members have discounted, early access to workshops, labs, masterclasses and projects produced and presented by QL2 Dance, including workshops with touring artists and companies.

Other weekly classes will be offered – and it will be your option to add them to your schedule as you wish (at additional cost.)

For our young artists, membership offer them the chance to personalise their own learning and development, in line with their own interest, commitment and/or ambition. For QL2, these changes will make our programs more cohesive, integrated, and sustainable.

Enrolling casually on a term-by-term basis will remain an option but please note, casual enrollment will attract a higher cost and some opportunities such as workshops, labs and masterclasses may be available for members only.

Member classes in 2026

CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUE classes at QL2 Dance are focused on kinaesthetic experience to develop understanding, awareness and control of the body in space. Content will include practice (exercises), and choreographic sequences designed to refine, empower and expand your individual movement palette.

CREATIVE LAB sessions offer our young dancers a unique opportunity to practice their creative skills without the pressure of an upcoming production. Sessions will focus on creative play, experimentation and reflection – across improvisation, games and creative tasks – to develop confidence, artistry and critical thinking.

INJURY OR ILLNESS – ONGOING
If your attendance is severely impacted during the year due to ongoing injury or illness, please provide QL2 Dance with a medical certificate, and arrange an appointment to discuss.

Attendance and Participation

Attending class consistently will ensure the most efficient development for you as a dancer. We encourage you to attend class every week and participate fully.

Attending classes is not just about developing your dance skills. Being active, belonging to a community and having a sense of purpose all contribute to good mental health. We encourage you to commit to classes for yourself, and as part of the QL2 community. For further information on the benefit of arts for mental health, visit this link.

We encourage you to prioritise your dance classes as part of your regular routine, even when you are busy. Learning how to manage your time is another important life skill. When you have school or university deadlines, moving your body will give you a break and allow you to process information in different, perhaps deeper ways.

What if I am injured, or not feeling well?
Learning how to participate when you are not feeling your best is a good life skill. Often, it is still possible to participate in class, in a modified way. QL2 staff will support you to do this, when you need it.

If you are unwell:

  1. If you have active symptoms – including vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, sneezing – please stay at home to minimise the risk of passing on your illness to others.

  2. If you are feeling unwell but you are not symptomatic, we encourage you to attend and participate as best you can. Let your teacher know how you are feeling so they may help you adjust class content as required. Your participation may involve observing at times.

  3. If you become unwell during class, your teacher may direct you to the QL2 staff member on site for support. If you are unable to continue, we may contact your parent/guardian to collect you before the scheduled end of class.

If you are injured:

  1. If you arrive at class with an injury, ensure this is communicated to QL2 staff and your teacher, before class begins. Your teacher may help you adjust class content as required. Your participation may involve observing at times.

  2. If something happens during class, which impacts your ability to participate fully, ensure this is communicated to your teacher, and QL2 staff.
